We are manufacturing Impact Idler sets as per the customer requirements and drawing specification. It consists of 3 nos. of Impact idlers and supporting frame assembly.
Impact Idler and Idler Set Technical Specifications
An idler set is a complete assembly of rollers mounted on a frame, providing support for the conveyor belt. The technical specifications of an idler set are standardized by organizations like the Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) and include:
- CEMA Class Rating: This is the most critical specification. It defines the idler’s load-carrying capacity based on factors like belt width, roll diameter, and speed. A higher CEMA class (e.g., CEMA E) signifies a more robust design with larger bearings and heavier components for more demanding applications.
- Roll Diameter: The diameter of the individual rollers in the set. Common diameters range from 4 to 8 inches (102mm to 203mm). The correct diameter is chosen based on belt speed to ensure a long service life.
- Belt Width: The idler set is designed for a specific belt width. The length of the idler rolls and the frame width are sized accordingly to provide full support for the belt.
- Impact idlers are specifically designed to absorb the shock and impact of material dropped onto a conveyor belt. They are typically located at loading and transfer points where the material free-falls onto the belt. Their primary technical specifications include:
- Roll Design: The rollers are not solid steel but instead feature a series of rubber rings or discs mounted on a steel tube. These rings are made of a specific durometer rubber to absorb the impact energy, protecting the belt from punctures, tears, and abrasion.
- Material and Construction: Impact idlers are built with heavier-duty components than standard idlers. This includes thicker steel tubing for the roll shell, oversized shafts, and heavy-duty bearings to withstand high dynamic loads.
- CEMA Rating: They are typically rated for CEMA D, E, or F duty classes to handle the severe stress of bulk material handling in industries like mining and quarrying.
