We are manufacturing Impact Idler as per the drawing specification and customer requirements.

An impact idler is a specialized conveyor roller designed to absorb shock and protect the conveyor belt at loading and transfer points. Its technical specifications are based on its ability to withstand heavy, dynamic loads.

Key Technical Specifications

  • Construction: The most distinguishing feature of an impact idler is its segmented roll. Instead of a smooth steel shell, it consists of a series of elastomeric (rubber or polymer) rings mounted on a central steel tube. These rings act as cushions to absorb the impact energy of falling material.
  • Materials:
    • Rubber Rings: The rings are made from a high-quality, wear- and impact-resistant rubber with a specified Shore A hardness (typically 65-70) to ensure a balance of cushioning and durability. The rings are vulcanized to the core to prevent them from slipping or rotating independently.
    • Shaft and Bearings: The idler’s shaft and bearings are typically oversized and heavy-duty compared to standard idlers to handle the increased load and stress. They are equipped with robust, multi-stage sealing systems (e.g., labyrinth seals) to protect the bearings from dust, water, and debris.
  • CEMA Rating: Impact idlers are rated for heavy-duty applications and fall under higher CEMA classes (D, E, or F). This rating specifies the maximum load and belt tension the idler can handle, ensuring it’s suitable for demanding environments like mining, quarries, and bulk material handling.
  • Dimensions:
    • Roll Diameter: The diameter of the roll, which can range from 102mm to 203mm, is specified for a given CEMA class and belt speed to ensure a long service life.
    • Belt Width: The length of the idler is designed for a specific belt width. It’s crucial for the idler to fully support the belt and the loaded material to prevent sagging and spillage.
    • Troughing Angle: Like standard idlers, impact idlers are available in troughing configurations with angles like 20°, 35°, and 45°, which helps to contain the material and increase the conveyor’s carrying capacity.
